Job Description:
The primary responsibility of an Armored Cable Communication Technician is to install, maintain, and repair various types of communication cable systems, including fiber optic, coaxial, and copper wire cables. The job requires working in challenging environments, such as underground utility tunnels or high-rise buildings, and adhering to safety regulations and industry standards. Some key tasks include:
1. Conducting site inspections to assess the condition of existing communication cables and determine the appropriate course of action for maintenance or repair work.
2. Installing new communication cables according to specifications and engineering plans, ensuring proper alignment, shielding, and termination.
3. Performing routine maintenance on existing cables, such as cleaning, greasing, and tightening connectors, to prevent potential faults and extend the lifespan of the system.
4. Identifying and addressing technical issues related to communication cables, such as signal degradation, interference, or damage.
5. Collaborating with other technicians, engineers, and support staff to ensure smooth operation of communication networks and minimize downtime.
Requirements:
To be eligible for this position, candidates should possess the following qualifications:
1. A bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, communications technology, or a related field; or equivalent work experience.
2. At least two years of experience in the installation, maintenance, or repair of communication cable systems, preferably in the telecommunications industry.
3. Strong knowledge of various communication cable types, standards, and technologies, as well as their applications and limitations.
4. Proficiency in using specialized tools and equipment relevant to the installation, maintenance, and repair of communication cables.
5. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
6. Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
